Graham Ford Superstar

Well done Graham Ford on winning the ABSA Open B Grade snooker competition two last week. Graham beat some good seasoned players to get to the final and beat last years winner Lee Rudolf 2 - 0 . Well done Graham.

Not only a legend on the cricket field but now a legend in his own lunchtime and on the snooker tables - well done mate!

Michael Davis

New Zealand U21 National Academy.
Last weekend saw Michael Davis attend the second New Zealand U21 Snooker academy held in Christchurch. He joined 16 other top U21 players and had 3 days of intensive coaching which included video analysis, guest speakers, one on one coaching and match play. The coaches were impressed with Michael's ability and his achievements to date. This weeks sees Michael making a challenge on the New Zealand National U21 Title. We wish him well in that competition and in future competitions.

Congratulations to Ray Everson

That's right the ever shy Ray Everson has won the recent battle of the Pool Masters (Masters by age not necessarily by Pool skills - although there was a lot of skill in this case) to represent our region in the upcoming Pool Masters division to be held in Sydney. We wish Ray all the best and we are already clearly room in the trophy cabinet on Ray's advice - so let's hope Air New Zealand let him bring the trophy home on the plane.

Gym Membership

We possess an excellent gym facility with 2 walkers, 2 bikes, cross trainer, rower, weights and more. This facility is open 7 days from 5.45am to 10.30pm by swipe access using your existing RSA membership card. (Note! - fees are as below and cards will only work once gym fees are paid). We have a maintenance programme scheduled and we believe that our gym offers members an excellent low cost facility in a warm, safe & comfortable environment where they can work out in privacy or with their friends. The gym contains bathroom & shower facilities.

Thanks to all

Thanks to all who turned up to support our fundraising night for Lee Paul. The doubles match between Lee,Leonard and Scott and Lewis was a close game going down to the last two balls. Lee produced some great shots to beat both Steve Wattson and Peter Davis respectively in the singles. Lee won the six red challenge against Nick Garforth 2 -1. The raffled cue and the night raised $450 to go towards Lee's World u21 snooker challenge in Canada this month. Special thanks to Ray for helping with the raffles.

Please also note that this is the last week to get your name up for this years snooker comps.

New Snooker committee

Hi All!
We now have a new committee for the snooker section 2011. Both Ken Fiddes and Keith Pritchett have stood down after several years of serving the section and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their commitment and service. The notice board now has all the relevant information for this years snooker events and has the 2011 club competition sheets for you to enter. This year is going to be a full and exciting one and I wish you all the very best in your chosen competition.
Regards
Nick Garforth
Snooker Convener.
